An Avalanche of memories, cycling packages and maps , a few hiking notes and photos have now covered by basement floor for weeks. It has become very clear that I have been extremely fortunate to have crossed paths with you over the last 15+ years including the many Elbow Valley people you also brought to the table. Firstly, something that you did for son Dallas.
I have attached a picture of the Football Coffee Table Book you put together for Dallas in his grade 12 graduating year. Centennial High School home of the Coyotes.
Friends and family alike have always commented on how fantastic the cover picture looks. We call it: “Game Day Calm before the Storm”. At the time who knew in 2019 he would be a Vanier Cup Champion with the University of Calgary Dino football program also his graduating year. By the time you read this he will be aware of your life cycle and more. Added value to this small gesture from you now priceless. Takes up a permanent spot beside his U of C championship ring.

Day 2 Any Spring Fling; Redroofs Road. I believe you are aware of the real definition here. “MY” Greek Mythology book say’s “Go as fast as possible on the downhill, Big Ring stand-up power required to max your momentum on uphill”. Rinse & Repeat this roll coaster sprint till the end. Nothing to do really about the modest 7.5 km. Everything to do with blowing up your HRT average for day which I seemed to do regularly. Why? For the rush, exhilaration, laughing our asses off at each other at the end, while doubled over our handlebars sucking air. Once again, Priceless. Recovery, a coffee shop, maybe a cinnamon bun around the next corner, Hopefully! So Much Fun!
Penticton Gran Fondo; Super Super Hot! You could see the heat haze wave across the roads especially in climbs. Seems to me my only mistake made was to lie down in the park after the event. Bad idea. Should of kept moving. Good thing you were around to organize the carry of my seized-up body and drop me in the lake. Yes, I Was Cooked! Let’s go with I was much better later after a few drinks and some salty appetizer. Pretty sure I was quite content not to move for a while until all my senses came back. Worth every minute!
Glacier Nation Park (Montana) – Go to The Sun Road. My first time at this ride, I had really never ridden that kind of up and down mountain style road before. Mountain biking doesn’t really count here. By the time you read this, I will have asked you this question in person. “How did you and other’s talk me into this”? Did we really just go for pie and probably coffee in St. Mary’s just cause we could. I actually have handwritten notes telling myself that. Maybe I was delirious. Bottom line, still the best pie ever, Right!
There are so many more stories to tell, conversations to have. Everyone who is contributing to this celebration endeavor I’m sure would agree.
So many moments in time not to be repeated, but never to be forgotten.
I’d like to think we’ll get another chance to do it all again and more. Save me a spot.
Kerr Boath (AKA “Special K”)
God Bless my friend!
