André and I met coming up 36 years ago. We both were coffee drinking and smoking degenerates that would hang at Denny’s on McLeod Trail for hours upon hours. My friend Sherry and I would go and get a table early evening and would sit at a table until the wee hours, with a revolving list of visitors, coming to join us for a coffee, a few stories and of course lots of laughs.
By happenstance, we ended up working in the same mall for a couple of years. Then when we both got real jobs, out of retail, we ended up working across the street from each other for a couple of years. No matter where our lives zigged or zagged, we always stayed connected.
Throughout the decades we have seen and supported each other through great times and not so great times. We have always had a deeper connection than a typical friendship. At times we would “feel” that the other person was having a tough day and just reach out to check in on each other. Pretty special!
And now here we are, at the end of the journey of our friendship, certainly not by choice. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Andrè. There will no doubt be a void left in my life and my heart without him.
Thank you Andrè for always being my friend, being with me through tough times and more importantly for the laughter. OMG, have we laughed together. I look forward to spending a fabulous night to send you off to your next journey, which I’m sure will also be amazing. I do and have always loved you dearly.
Warmly,
Cynthia
